9,492 Mile BMW E28 M5 Time Machine - Now Available

There are a once in a lifetime opportunities that occur on a daily basis, but are only able to be recognized through the power of hindsight. Piloting the original Motorsport derived super saloon offered by BMW back in 1988 for the first time easily will find itself perched high on any Enthusiast's list. Owning one is reserved for fantasies, or rather was...

EAG New Arrival: 1988 E28 M5 -- This comes as no surprise to anyone who's been following our company over the past 20 years. Original Owner -- While extraordinarily rare, not out of the realm of what Enthusiast Auto Group has procured in the past. 9,123 miles... -- Surely a typo. These were driven when new! It's what they do best! Must have missed a "7 or 8" to accompany that "9"... We wholeheartedly agree on the driving sentiment, but it's true, we're incredibly humbled and excited to offer one of the lowest mileage E28 M5s left in existence and it's 10/10 original.

Set and now staged to proceed through our rigorous Rejuvenation program I had to take a moment to soak in what was in front of me. The E28 platform was never one that commanded attention. In fact, just the opposite and what I feel is its biggest draw. The term, "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" couldn't hold more true to the M variant and it took a more discerning enthusiast shaded eye to even take notice in a lot filled with late 80's sedan. Oh but I notice and given its stature around here I can still feel it grinning in our climate controlled staging building. A grin that has the pigs running for the hills to build bunkers.

Now that we have the source of admiration identified let's talk about this specific unicorn example. Easier said than done and even easier to understand once you experience it. We work with extremely proper examples of the M5 platform with an almost at times overwhelming approach towards the details.

However, just rolling down the windows feels like a new car. Using our other offerings in comparison most wouldn't a difference. We're no stranger to replacing the window switch due to the white paint fading or back-lighting no longer being sufficient. We use the proper lubrication after adjusting the glass to ensure a clunking audible cue doesn't indicate the end of its travel. We replace the electric motors with Genuine BMW or rebuild them using stock components. The supplemental fasteners, guides, everything is always in stock and ready for a technician if deemed less than 100%. YET. There's something slightly different about this one's operation. I've only made it as far as the window operation... Twist the key and an explosion of thoughts and feelings stir at the same frequency of the now legendary S38, but leaves me speechless. I'll let the next, and only second, owner find out for themselves...
